How we collect, use, store and delete personal data, and what you can require of us.
Last updated:
1. Who we are
{{COMPANY_LEGAL_NAME}} (“TekuCredit”, “we”, “us”) is a company registered in Ghana, RGD No. CS145610726, with its office at {{PHYSICAL_OFFICE}} (Ghana Post GPS {{GPS_ADDRESS}}).
We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Our registration with the Data Protection Commission is {{DPC_REGISTRATION}}.
Our Data Protection Officer can be reached at {{DPO_EMAIL}}, or by writing to the office address above marked for their attention.
2. What we collect
This is an information website. The data we collect through it is limited to what appears below. Personal data collected in the course of providing credit is governed by the separate notice given to customers at the time.
| Category | What it includes | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Correspondence | Your name, email address, chosen subject and the content of your message | You, through the contact form or by email |
| Technical data | IP address, browser type and pages requested, recorded in server logs | Automatically, when you visit |
| Analytics | Aggregate page-view statistics, only if you accept analytics cookies | Your browser, after you consent |
We do not ask for and do not want your telephone number, your Ghana Card or other identification number, your bank or mobile money details, your income, or your employment details through this website. Please do not send them to us.
We do not read, collect or upload your contacts, SMS messages, photographs or call logs.
3. Why we may lawfully hold it
Section 20 of the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) requires a lawful basis for processing personal data. Ours are:
- Your consent — for setting analytics cookies. You give this deliberately by pressing “Accept analytics”, and you can withdraw it at any time by clearing this site's cookies.
- Our legitimate interest — for responding to messages you send us, and for keeping server logs to run and secure the site.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
4. How we use it
- To answer the message you sent us.
- To contact you at the email address you gave us, about that message.
- To keep the site running, available and secure.
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages people find useful.
We do not make automated decisions about you on this website, and we do not profile you. We do not sell your personal data to anybody, in any circumstances.
5. Who else sees it
We share personal data only with the following, and only as far as each needs it:
- Our hosting and email providers, who store the data on our instruction under a written agreement.
- Our analytics provider, if you accepted analytics cookies.
- Professional advisers — such as lawyers or auditors — where they need it to advise us.
- A public authority, where we are required to disclose by law or by an order of a court.
Some of these providers may store data outside Ghana. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure the data receives a comparable standard of protection, as required by sections 18 and 47 of Act 843.
6. How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Correspondence | 24 months after the matter is closed |
| Server logs | 90 days |
| Analytics | Aggregate only; no identifiable record is retained |
When a retention period ends we delete the data or irreversibly anonymise it.
7. How we protect it
Data is transmitted over HTTPS, stored on access-controlled systems, and reachable only by the people who need it to do their work. We keep the amount we hold deliberately small, because the safest data is the data that was never collected.
If a breach occurs that is likely to affect you, we will notify you and the Data Protection Commission as required by section 31 of Act 843.
8. Your rights
Under Act 843 you have the right to:
- Be informed about how your data is used — this policy.
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Have data deleted where we no longer have a good reason to hold it.
- Object to processing, including for direct marketing, at any time.
- Withdraw consent you previously gave, without having to explain why.
- Complain to the Data Protection Commission.
To exercise any of these, email {{DPO_EMAIL}}. We will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for this, and we will not ask why.
9. Cookies
We set one strictly necessary first-party cookie,
tc_consent, which records whether you accepted or rejected
analytics so that we do not ask again. It expires after 180 days and
contains nothing but that choice.
Analytics cookies are set only if you press “Accept analytics”. If you press “Reject all”, no analytics are loaded at all — not loaded and then ignored, but never requested. You can change your mind by clearing this site's cookies in your browser, which brings the banner back.
10. Children
This site and our services are for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, tell us and we will delete them.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Where a change materially affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell the people affected directly.
12. How to complain
Please raise it with our Data Protection Officer first at {{DPO_EMAIL}} — most things are fastest to fix that way.
You also have the right to complain directly to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana at any time, and you do not have to come to us first.
