TekuCredit is a Ghanaian financial technology company. We provide digital credit for salaried workers and small traders — the people whose money moves every day but whose creditworthiness has never been easy for a lender to see.

Why we exist

Credit is infrastructure, and it is unevenly built.

A person who buys stock every Monday and sells it by Friday is running a business. A person paid the same amount on the same day each month has a predictable income. Both are perfectly reasonable people to lend to. Yet in practice, one of them is far easier to serve than the other, and it is rarely the one with the busier week.

That gap is not a judgement about character. It is a gap in infrastructure. The information exists — it simply does not arrive in the shape traditional assessment expects. Closing that gap is the work we do.

We are deliberately narrow about what we do. We are not a bank. We do not take deposits or hold savings. We do not sell insurance or investments. We do one thing, and we would like to do it well enough that the way it is done becomes unremarkable.

How we work

Three habits we are trying to keep.

  • Say the number

    If a person cannot tell what something costs by reading the screen in front of them, the design has failed. Not the customer.

  • Ask for less

    Every piece of personal information we hold is a liability we are responsible for. The right amount to collect is the least that does the job.

  • Treat difficulty as normal

    People fall behind for ordinary reasons. A system that only works when nothing goes wrong is not really a system.
